For the past several months, the Knave team has been building a platform through which we hope to share some of our favorite new writers. All the pieces are now in place, and we are very happy to introduce you to mystery and thriller author Liam Ashe.
A former marketing executive, Ashe is excited about his decision to switch professional gears and focus on his true passion, mystery fiction. His inaugural series features Elle Cunningham Mackay, a professional genealogist and historian. Her Scottish-flavored mysteries immerse the reader in a world of kilts, pipes, Highland games and, regrettably, haggis.
“I grew up on twisty tales by Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, John Dickson Carr, Ellery Queen and other golden age greats,” Ashe says. “Elle and her books are an homage to these masters, with a little modern sensibility tossed in.”
Elle’s first adventure, Thou Shalt Not Kilt, is scheduled to print in late Summer 2019.
Other books at disparate stages of progress include a series of thrillers featuring Elle’s life-long friend, curiosity store owner Emery Vaughn and two projects with co-author Beatrice Bonnie: a series of Christie-ish mysteries starring sleuth and former spy Mafalda Marchand and the village-set mysteries of Vicar James Valentine.
An outspoken fan of Golden Age mysteries and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, Ashe will also head up Knave’s genre fiction team. Together with our in-house readers and editors, he will be working with new Knave authors to develop their ideas, brands and platforms.
Welcome aboard, Liam!
